Jennifer Rutherford
Jen brings warmth, compassion, and a genuine desire to make each person’s experience easier to Self Care Counseling. As a foster and adoptive mother who has personally experienced the value of counseling, Jen understands how important it is to feel supported, respected, and cared for when seeking help.
As a Client Support Specialist, Jen helps clients navigate the process of beginning and receiving services. She provides clear answers, helps ease insurance-related concerns, and works to make scheduling and onboarding as simple as possible. Jen believes that even small acts of support can make someone’s day a little easier.
Clients can expect Jen to be friendly, welcoming, and attentive to their individual needs. She understands that people are not always in the mood for small talk, so she meets clients where they are while offering kindness, understanding, and—when appropriate—a little laughter to brighten a stressful day. Her goal is for every client to feel cared for and valued after interacting with her.
Jen also brings 20 years of experience as a ballet teacher, working with dancers of all ages. Through teaching, fostering, parenting, and navigating Medicaid services, she has learned the importance of patience, grace, and remembering that everyone needs support sometimes.
Outside of work, Jen enjoys spending time with her family, playing games, bowling, camping, hiking, and relaxing by a warm fire with good conversation. She also values time with the close friends who have supported her through life’s difficult seasons.
