Allison Snider
Allison provides in-person services at Self Care Counseling’s Loveland, Ohio location and also offers telehealth appointments throughout Ohio. She holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and is a National Certified Counselor. Allison works primarily with adults and is also interested in supporting children, adolescents, and couples.
Allison is passionate about helping people who are navigating major life changes, anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or challenges communicating their thoughts and feelings. She understands how these concerns can interfere with everyday life and leave someone feeling disconnected from themselves or unsure of how to move forward.
Using a strengths-based approach, Allison draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused techniques. She works collaboratively with clients to establish meaningful goals, recognize their existing strengths, and understand the patterns influencing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She also helps clients develop practical coping and communication skills they can use in their daily lives.
Warm, empathetic, and authentic, Allison offers a comfortable and nonjudgmental environment where clients can express themselves openly. Her semi-structured approach provides direction while leaving room for each person’s unique needs, preferences, and way of processing experiences. Allison believes therapy should move at the client’s pace and that treatment goals should reflect what the client wants and needs from the process.
Through therapy, Allison hopes clients gain greater self-awareness, confidence, and a diverse collection of tools for managing difficult emotions and situations. Her goal is to help clients reduce distress, improve daily functioning, communicate more effectively, and move toward a life in which they can thrive.
Allison’s own experiences with mental health challenges helped inspire her to enter the counseling profession. She is especially passionate about advocating for people experiencing physical or mental health conditions that affect daily functioning but may be overlooked, misunderstood, or misrepresented, including narcolepsy, multiple sclerosis, and postpartum depression.
Outside of work, Allison enjoys attending concerts, spending time in the pool, couponing, thrift shopping, and relaxing with her two dogs, Lucy and Lola. Music is an important form of self-care for her, especially when she discovers a song that reflects an experience or feeling. Allison encourages clients to embrace what makes them unique and looks forward to building genuine therapeutic relationships with the people she serves.
